Dr Spittaler is a leading neurosurgeon with over 30 years experience in the medical industry, 26 of those years as a Consultant Neurosurgeon. He has dedicated his professional life to help his patients attain a better quality of life and offers his patients a holistic approach to surgery.

Dr Spittaler’s post graduate training including leading hospitals in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Cambridge and Lithuania before moving to Newcastle NSW in 1996 and commencing his appointment at John Hunter Hospital. Dr Spittaler operates at Lingard Private Hospital and Newcastle Private Hospital and consults with patients in Hamilton.

Since 1996 Dr Spittaler has performed over 14,000 surgeries and sits on the Advisory Board at Lingard Private Hospital. Dr Spittaler is the only surgeon in the Hunter region to perform navigated sacroiliac joint fusion surgery. He prides himself on his dedicated care of patients and is constantly striving to ensure patients receive the best care possible.

Dr Spittaler has extensive surgical experience and this allows him valuable insight in outcomes and expectations for patients. He is interested in gaining the best results possible for every one of his patients. He is interested in keeping up with worlds best practise and recently has travelled to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East to offer education and confer with peers in best practice and cutting edge technology.

Outside of his surgical practice, Dr Spittaler is married and has two adult children and four step-children. He enjoys the beach, boating, travelling, restaurants, wine, and fast cars.
